Increase in connectivity to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

The connectivity of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo increases: there are two new flights, advances in the new Zihuatanejo cruise ship pier were carried out as well as an investment of more than 50MDP in the highway that communicates with Acapulco.

Pedro Castelán Reyna, Executive Director of the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVIZ) confirmed the new two flights to the destination: with Interjet from Toluca and with Sunwing Airlines from Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.

He commented about the flight with Interjet that "the sale of the recently recovered route Toluca - Ixtapa Zihuatanejo has already begun, this flight moves more than 44,000 passengers annually to the destination, which means 7 or 8% annually of the total passengers transported by air in this port.

One of the flights recovered, with daily frequency, is the one that leaves at 9:00 hrs from Toluca, arriving at 9:50 hrs and leaving Zihuatanejo at 10:30 hrs. With this flight, Interjet will have 17 weekly frequencies to the destination.

Along with this announcement, Pedro Castelán Reyna, OCVIZ Executive Director confirmed the flight of Victoria - Ixtapa Zihuatanejo with Sunwing Airlines. It is a winter season flight, every Saturday, from December 21, 2019, to April 4, 2020, reaching 9 different cities by direct flight from Canada.

In addition to air connectivity, Puerto Mio is finalizing the construction of an alternate pier to receive the high-level Crystal Symphony cruise ship on October 5, with 1,393 passengers and crew, thus beginning the expected cruise season in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. From January 2020, the Zihuatanejo pier will be ready to receive five more ships.
